The ducks, who have been in the yard since 2016, were already at record low numbers when the dogs showed up. The dogs initially didn't bother the ducks, but after about two weeks, they turned on them and wouldn't let them be. After a full day of non-stop running and hiding for their lives, the dogs kept going at them til they ripped the feathers out of two of the ducks! It wasn't until their owner got home were the ducks rescued and put into the pool as an emergency safe place.
Sadly the two Pekins were very hurt and eventally died. Other than the deaths, things seemed to be looking good. The ducks had more food, water, and space away from the dogs. However, after about five days, a fence was put up past the grass in the yard, and we all agreed it was good that the dogs were going to be contained however that was not the case! Instead ducks were forced into the small area while the dogs were given free rein!
Update: October 16 2022:
The day is October 9th, 2022, and the dogs broke into the duck pen and killed two ducks. The dog lover found the dead ducks and buried them without telling anyone so the duck owner wouldn't be mad. She then looked for the other ducks who were all missing, so she went to the duck owner and explained that all the ducks were missing and she would get rid of the dogs and not be mad, the duck owner went outside, and the ducks were there, so he went inside and didn't worry about it.
An hour goes by, and the rest of the family comes home and asks about the ducks. He explained everything was fine and she didn't see the ducks, but then they asked about the two dead ducks, which confused the duck owner, so he went outside, and the dogs were in the duck pen and had attacked all the ducks. The dogs didn't kill the ducks because they hid in a bush so the dogs could only reach their tails, but all the ducks had bad cuts on their tails and were missing their feathers. Bugs and ants will get into the cuts and start eating the inside of the duck, which painfully kills them, which is what happened to 3 of the 6 ducks after the first 8 hours.
During the night the duck owner managed to catch one of the hurt ducks and put him in the bathtub to protect it from the dogs. Sadly there was only room for 1 duck at a time so he wasn't able to save any other ducks. Brown Bird was the only unharmed duck and she hid in the shed for over 24 hours without food or water because if she stepped foot outside the dogs would kill her. But even hiding in the dark shed hehind a bike didn't save her from when the dogs entered the pen once again. She was the only duck left so they killed her.
Bathtub Duck had to be in the bathtub for nearly 48 hours before a new home could be found for him. He now happily resides in a backyard with a real pond, 2 other ducks, chickens, and most of all NO DOGS! At that home, any dog that misbehaves is given the shotgun.
Currently, the graves of the ducks have been uncovered 3 times, and duck parts are now spread to every corner of the front and back yard. The yard smells horrible, and there is no way to clean up. The dog lover tried to retract her deal with getting rid of the dogs, but Currently, the dogs are on craigslist, but sadly it doesn't seem like the dogs will ever take them.
